Hide or Seek

Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

Psalm 32:1 NIV

“Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”

Romans 4:7 NIV

You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.

Psalm 85:2 NIV

Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said,

“I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And You forgave the guilt of my sin.

Psalm 32:5 NIV

It is a choice to “Hide” or “Seek” resulting in our captivity or freedom.

Shame says, “Hide.” Hide from the presence of God. Condemnation agrees. Accusation directs us to stay concealed. Blame locks the gate. Fear of man secures our captivity. While guilt labels our sin too great to reveal. Each component haunting, silently whispering to our spirit, “Hide! Keep your secret locked away. Never, never, seek!”

HOWEVER…

The Spirit of the Living God says, “Come.” For He came to set the captive free. Our iniquity has been covered by the sacrifice of the Son. We don’t need to hide. It is for freedom, Christ set us free. Seek Him! For where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Stop covering your sin, and allow the Lord Almighty to cover it for you. His covering is emancipatory!

A CHOICE…

To hide or seek is a choice of one’s heart.

As we seek the presence of God, liberty comes to our soul diminishing the fear of man. Our confession is key once placed in the Father’s hand. The gate is now unlocked by the true Gatekeeper, and the key thrown as far as the east is from the west. Through our confession, sealed by the sacrifice of the Son, we enter into the place of freedom. The love of God has opened the gate. The shouts of shame grow mute as we step forward in Christ. Condemnation cannot keep us captive any longer, for blame has lost it’s grip. Labels of guilt fall onto Christ Himself. Seeking Him, we find the fear of man becomes consumed by the Father’s approval. Affirmed, hide or seek now becomes a journey of seek and find. We discover the freedom to be all God has made us to be. As we seek Him with all of our heart, He is found by us. In that meeting, an exchange takes place as we reveal our transgressions to the Lord. Liberated, we bear truth; now broken are the shackles of accusation. Forgiven, we begin to understand our true value. Christ died for our sake to set us free from the yoke of slavery. He consumed our guilt, our shame. Jesus paid the debt we owed - a debt we could not pay. We are free. Free indeed!

May we choose to seek Him, to be found by Him,

and not be hidden in the shadows of sin.

Surrender the stronghold.

Confess your transgression.

Allow the hand of God to set you free.

Partner with Him to unlock the gate.

Trust Him.

The Lord says, “Come.”

No longer be locked away.

Confession is key.

Don’t hide. Seek Him.

Prayer

Father,

I choose to no longer hide, but seek You.

I have covered my sin by locking it away in my secret shame. I turn to You this day, Lord, seeking Your forgiveness, and long for You to cover my transgression.

Shame has dictated I hide from You. Condemnation has held me captive. Accusation continues to imprison me. Blame beats me up, citing a list of reasons to lock the gate. And the fear of man applauds my captivity.

But today is different. Today, I confess my transgressions to the Lord, uncovering my shame. I unlock the gate, entrusting my Savior to cover me.

I acknowledge my sin of ____________ to You, confessing the iniquity of my transgression.

My confession is key to forgiveness. As I confess my transgression, my sin is now covered by the offering of the Lamb of God. My sin exposed. Consumed by love. I need not hide any longer. The stronghold of ________________ is broken off my life in the Name of Jesus.

I seek Thee. Fill me afresh, Lord, with Your Holy Spirit.

With the gate open, freely, I step out of the bondage of sin. Covered by grace.

Forgiven and free.

I AM FREE!

GUILT FREE!

For those the Son sets free, are free indeed!

Amen!
