If anyone is born again, in Christ, he is a new creation!
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].
2 Corinthians 5:17 Amplified Version
In seeking the Lord for a greater understanding of what it means to be born again, the following thought came to mind: "What are you feeding on?"
An infant draws nourishment from an umbilical cord, absorbing what it is fed. Body, soul, and spirit, the development of an infant responds to the nurturing received.
Even, emotionally, a little one's soul is being fed during this time of development. Along with the the infant's physical nurturing, identity is being established.
Does criticism encroach the embryonic sack? Or, words of acceptance and love?
Envision, if you will, once we are born again in the Spirit, we are joined to the nurturing heart of the Father. Now, feeding on His love, peace floods one's soul. Security and purpose are established. All criticism diminishes. Rejection is embraced by acceptance. Hatred by love. Performance not needed. Striving ceases. Freedom reigns! His authority rules!
Not only does the gift of eternal life become ours when we say, " YES! " to Christ, A NEW FREEDOM FOLLOWS! For, the old is gone! And, the new has come!
May we stop feeding on the old way of life, and choose to fully ingest all He has for us!
Mangiare! Dear child of God! Eat up! The table is set!
Prayer
Father,
I choose to stop feeding on the old way of life.
In the Name of Jesus, I sever the old umbilical cord that has fed my identity and destiny.
I fully accept how you see me, and choose to feed upon the nurturing heart of God. Consuming Your purpose. Your love. Your joy. Your hope. Your peace. Your acceptance.
Your glory. Seeking your face.
I am yours, and You are mine.
I look at the table you have prepared for me, and I see the goodness of the Lord.
My soul hungers for you!
Father, I come, fill me with more of you!
Amen!
