Pods of the Past

Updated: May 30, 2020

Many of us wallow in the muddy waters of woe feeding on the pods of the past.

Pods made from the lingering offense of others, circumstances beyond our control, the wounds of abuse, and heartache caused by the spoken and even the unspoken word. We continue to chew on these things filling our bellies with the husks of transgression allowing ourselves to grow disgruntled, full of resentment and righteous indignation. Eventually, our appetite for self sorrow pulls us down into the waters of animosity. Here, the water becomes familiar; unknowingly to us, the pods turn about and incessantly gnaw at our identity.

Though, our suffering is valid and our troubles sure; in Christ, we have been promised so much more than the sourness of the pods.

A promise secured with a decision of the heart. A decision that lies before us at the waters of woe. It is a choice to let go of the swill of our past and enter into the promises of the Lord. We can choose to return to the Father, allowing Him to shuck the pods from our heart. For it is by His hand, we are made whole…wounds are healed… our loss redeemed…joy restored…and our destiny released.

Instead of wallowing in the mud, we can step into the river of the Lord allowing His water to wash over us - imparting life. As we lay our pods at His feet; He redeems them into a powerful testimony for His glory. A testimony of healing - springs up -through His redemptive power overflowing to refresh the souls of many. For we know, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony the accuser of the brethren is overcome. The accuser delights when we choose to wallow in the muddy waters of woe feeding on the pods of the past. BUT GOD says “Rise up! Stand triumphant in the Lord!” In Christ. For Christ. Through Christ. Victory is yours! Let God use your past for His glory, and stop allowing the enemy to use it for his intention - to keep you stagnate in the adulterated water of woe hindering God’s plan for your life.

Prayer

Father,

I repent for filling my belly with the pods of the past. These pods have grown familiar to me comforting my misery, justifying my unforgiveness, and defending my right to wallow within the woe of my wounds. My misery has become my master.

Today, I make the choice to stop feeding on the putridness of the pods. Escort me, O God, into Your living water. Wash over me with the water of Your Word. Let Your river cleanse deep within me. I submit the pods of my past to You. Transform these pods, O Lord, into a triumphal testimony for Your glory. Today, I take hold of the victory I have in Jesus. No longer will I wallow within the water of woe. Today, I release my pods to Christ. I declare, Jesus is the Master of my destiny. I decree, in Christ, I am an overcomer and the pods of my past will be used for His glory!

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
