The Glow of His Glory

When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord. So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called out to them and asked Aaron and all the leaders of the community to come over, and he talked with them. Then all the people of Israel approached him, and Moses gave them all the instructions the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. When Moses finished speaking with them, he covered his face with a veil. But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again.

Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him, and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.

Exodus 34:29-35 NLT

Veil

Strong’s Concordance - Hebrew Reference 4533: Apparently from an unused root

meaning to cover; a veil - vail.

Dictionary Definition: A thing that conceals, disguises, or obscures something. Cover.

Thesaurus: Mask.

Moses looked to the Lord and was radiant. His face shone with the glow of the Father’s glory. It is the same for all who enter into the presence of God. As we commune with the Holy Spirit of God, our faces reflect the light of the Father’s glory.

Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Psalm 34:5 NIV

The Spirit says, “Come.” All are welcome in to His presence. It was through the sacrifice of Christ, our great High Priest, that God made a way for us to enter in to the Most Holy Place. At death of our Savior, the veil was torn. Jesus is the way to the Father’s glory.

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

Matthew 27: 50-51 ESV

Veil

Strong’s Concordance - Greek Reference 2665: A curtain. The door screen in the Jewish Temple. A veil of that which separated the Holy of Holies from the outer parts of the temple at Jerusalem.

Thayer’s Greek Lexicon - Reference 2665: The veil had to be removed in order that the high priest might enter the most holy place of the earthly temple, so the body of Christ had to be removed by His death on the cross that an entrance might be opened into the fellowship of God in heaven.

We have this hope. Hold on to it!

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 6:19-20 NKJV

Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:12-18 NKJV

May the hope of His glory be seen upon our faces.

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

Psalm 3:3 NIV

When our heads are lifted, we realize the veil has been torn.

Prayer

Father,

Thank you for making a way for me to come into the Most Holy Place. I am so very grateful for the hope I have in You. This hope does not disappoint. It continues to prove sure and steadfast through Jesus Christ.

I accept Your invitation. In Christ, I come.

As I sit in Your presence, remove any mask from my countenance, so that Your glory may be seen in my life. Please, exfoliate all shame from my face, for shame is not of You. Truly, as I look to You, I am made radiant, my face washed of all shame.

Let the glow of Your glory shine brightly upon me offering hope to those

whose hearts are still veiled - bringing liberty to those still held captive.

From glory to glory!

Amen

Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:7 NIV
